About Think Boise First

Think Boise First (TBF) was founded in 2008 by a small group of business owners and community advocates who believe local businesses are the core of a thriving local economy. A local living economy ensures that economic power resides locally, sustaining healthy community life and natural life as well as long-term economic viability.

TBF creates awareness and educates community members on the importance of supporting locally owned and independently operated businesses. When you procure goods and services from a local business, a greater portion of your dollar stays in your community and when local businesses purchase from one another an additional circulation of your dollar occurs. More money circulating in our community means more stable jobs, a stronger economic base, preserving our uniqueness of place and enhancing our quality of life.

Supporting local is a shift. We suggest a shift in the way you “think” about how you live, what you support, the food you eat and what you buy. Studies show that supporting local stimulates the local economy. It’s good for you, your family, friends and community.
Thinking Local First is simply being aware, educating yourself on what is local, and giving yourself time to think about the choices you make.

Think About This: What does it mean for you to be local? How can you engage by joining, volunteering, contributing, shopping and growing your local economy?

Even small steps toward local can make a big difference.
